Boy hurt in accidental shooting, two arrested in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A three-year-old boy accidentally shot himself Friday night after accessing an unsecured firearm.
Baton Rouge police responded to a shooting in the 1100 block of North Ardenwood Drive around 10:35 p.m. Police said the child was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle and his injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
As a result of the incident, Dekel Davis, 20, was charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
BRPD also arrested Kerry Thomas, 21. According to the police, Thomas had an outstanding warrant in Livingston Parish for illegal possession of stolen things. He was booked on the warrant.
The Baton Rouge Police Department is still investigating the incident.
