AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) - For the 11th year in a row, the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation (HGCF) is funding the Local Farmer Awards, where local farmers can apply for the chance to receive a grant for their hard work. The HGCF is partnering with the Massachusetts Society for Promoting Agriculture, Big Y, the Irene E. and George A. Davis Foundation, and other local funders to support farmers in western Massachusetts upgrade and improve their farms with grants of up to $2,500. The HGCF said that these awards have allowed a total of 672 projects to be accomplished by over 300 farmers. Coexisting with bears topic of monthly Berkshire Green Drinks event "We are delighted to once again support farmers in Western Massachusetts through these grants," John Lee, president of the Massachusetts Society for Promoting Agriculture said. "It is truly inspiring to witness the creativity, thoughtfulness, and uniqueness they bring to their projects.” To apply, farms must be located in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, or Berkshire County, and have gross sales of $10,000.
