Lincoln Police Cruiser. (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)LINCOLN–(KFOR Jan. 4) The Lincoln Police Department Friday announced it will conduct a traffic enforcement project focused on red light/stop sign violations. LPD officers will focus on intersections and areas where these violations are most common. The project is made possible by a grant from our partners at the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Red light and stop sign violations are a serious concern in Lincoln, contributing to accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. During the winter months, it becomes even more important to ensure drivers give themselves plenty of time and space to stop safely at intersections. The Lincoln Police Department reminds drivers of the importance of obeying traffic signals and signs to prevent dangerous collisions and protect the safety of pedestrians and motorists. LPD urges all drivers to remain attentive and follow the rules of the road to keep our streets safe. Drivers should be aware that law enforcement will be actively patrolling these areas and that violations will result in fines and penalties.
