Together as a community, we can’t let this 800 pound bully dictate and force our community to accept a project that is certainly driven to fill the pockets of wealthy individuals, leaving the local residents to pick up the tab.  There are plenty of cases in history where no matter how unbalanced the forces may appear, if we come together and share a common goal, we can overcome and put up a fight against corruption, bullying, selfishness, and greed.  The Summit County Council members have been forced to accept a project under the threat of withholding funding for community projects, passing laws by the legislators to strip local communities of voting power, and introducing and enacting laws written and sponsored by developers to serve their interests. The Utah Code title 76, chapter 8, part 1, section 104 should be applicable to the Dakota Pacific tactics and as a clear example of the use of threats to influence officials with the purpose of influencing an action, decision and recommendation. Ultimately, the decision for the land owned by Dakota Pacific should be left to the community and should be resolved through a referendum.  As a community, we could mobilize and raise the funds needed to buy out Dakota Pacific and let the community dictate the future of that piece of land. In my opinion, this fight is far from over, and as a community, we should continue to pursue what is right, using all the available legal tools in the pursuit of justice.Ruby DiazPinebrookThe post Doesn’t seem right appeared first on Park Record.
