Driver dies after crashing Jeep into tree in Mission Bay

A 31-year-old driver died after he crashed a Jeep that had been reported stolen into a tree in Mission Bay Park on Friday, according to San Diego police.
The incident was reported after the Jeep Wrangler struck a round-about curb and veered off the road around 5:25 a.m. on Quivira Way near Hospitality Point Park, Officer Jose Perales said.
The Jeep was reported stolen by the owner a few hours later, Perales said.
It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
The crash is under investigation.
