Thomas boys basketball holds off Schroeder

WEBSTER, N.Y. (WROC) – Crosstown rivals Webster Thomas and Webster Schroeder tipped off on Friday night in a thriller with Thomas coming out on top 51-49.
It was a back-and-forth battle until the final buzzer. Schroeder led 11-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Thomas rallied back to lead 20-17 at the half.
Just one point separated the teams after the third as Thomas maintained the lead, 33-32.
Thomas pulled ahead to start the fourth as Joseph Baller knocked down a three-pointer to give the Titans a four-point lead.
Schroeder responded to close the gap, and a shot beyond the arc from Nick Schillaci put the Warriors back in front 46-43 with just over two minutes to go.
Thomas answered, and with a minute to play, Anthony LaLoggia hit a three to give Thomas the lead right back, 48-46.
With just seconds left on the clock, Schroeder trailed by five, but Connor Fulkerson drained a three-point shot to make it a two-point game with 3.9 seconds remaining.
On the inbound, Anthony Amico intercepted Thomas' pass but couldn't get the shot to fall at the buzzer. Thomas held off Schroeder 51-49 for its sixth win of the season.
Thomas (6-1) next faces Fairport on the road on Wednesday, January 8th. Schroeder (1-5) hosts Spencerport on the same evening.
