Boy, parents detained after 'joke' in Clovis parking lot

CLOVIS, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A boy was cited for a misdemeanor after allegedly telling a passerby in a Walmart parking lot that he had a bomb, the Clovis Police Department said.
Officers responded to the area of Peach and Shaw avenues in Clovis at 4:06 p.m. after the boy allegedly said "I have a bomb in the car!" Police say the boy made the statement as he was getting into a Jeep with his family in the Walmart parking lot.
According to police, all four people in the car, including the boy's parents, were detained as the Jeep was searched.
Officers say nothing was located and it was determined that the juvenile was "joking." The boy was cited for a misdemeanor for falsely reporting a bomb threat.
