YOSEMITE, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - A driver might have gotten too excited during their trip to Yosemite, the California Highway Patrol said on Friday. CHP says they responded to the area of Highway 99 near Bethel Avenue in Fresno County on Thursday night after a Yosemite visitor reached speeds of 100 mph. According to officers, the driver was speeding because they were "just trying to get to Yosemite as fast as we can." The driver ended up receiving a speeding ticket and a "welcome to Fresno County," per CHP. In their post, CHP advised drivers who are planning their "epic adventure" to not take the "speeding ticket as a souvenir". "Yosemite’s gonna be there even if you’re a little late, we promise!" reads the post.
