Rob Dillingham will miss at least one more week with a Grade 2 right lateral ankle sprain, the Timberwolves announced Friday. The rookie guard has missed the past three games with the injury and will have his ankle re-evaluated in a week. The team said Dillingham’s return-to-play timeline is one to two weeks. Dillingham has missed seven games to date this season due to injury. Minnesota claimed a guard off waivers Friday, nabbing rookie Tristen Newton after the second-round pick was waived by Indiana. To make room for Newton — who’s on a two-way contract — the Wolves waived Daishen Nix, best known for creating the bench’s celebratory point when a Timberwolves’ player would dunk on an opponent. A 6-foot-5 guard, Newton won a pair of national titles with UConn in college. He appeared in five games this season for the Pacers and most of his minute load has come in the G-League, where in four games the guard has averaged 7.8 assists per game.
