A man was shot after chasing after another man who had stolen a purse in San Bernardino Thursday night, Jan. 2, but he was expected to survive, the San Bernardino Police Department said.
The crime happened around 7:45 p.m. in the 600 block of W. 2nd Street, Capt. Nelson Carrington said Friday.
The victims, a man and a woman, were in a parking lot near a McDonald’s restaurant when another man grabbed the woman’s purse and ran, Carrington said. When the first man pursued the robber, a second man, who was present at the time, opened fire. That man in pursuit of the robber was struck in the leg. Both suspects fled the scene.
The gunshot wound was not considered life-threatening, Carrington said.
Police were still looking for the robber and shooter Friday, he said.
