Daniel Callihan charged in Loranger child murder, abduction case

LORANGER, La. (WGNO) — Daniel Callihan has been charged again for his alleged connection to the Brunett murder and abduction case from back in June, 2024.
According to the United States Department of Justice, Callihan is now being charged with kidnapping resulting in death and transporting a minor in interstate commerce with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.

These charges follow after, on June 28, 2024, he had already been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping of a child and second-degree kidnapping in relation to the alleged killing of 35-year-old Callie Brunett, 3-year-old Erin Brunett and the kidnapping of 6-year-old Jalie Brunett.
The first new charge carries with it a minimum sentence of life in prison, up to three years of supervised release, up to a $250,000 fine and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee.
The second new charge carries a minimum of 10 years in prison, up to life in prison, at least five years and up to a lifetime supervised release, up to a $250,000 fine and a $100 mandatory special assessment fee. It may also require him to register as a sex offender.
