Columbia, SC (WOLO) — There’s nothing like those emotions that attending a memorable play, film, concert or art exhibition can trigger.
According to researchers consuming the arts and culture can be good for your health.
The study by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport in conjunction with the World Health Organization (WHO) says engagement with performance-based art such as plays, musicals and ballet, and particularly participation in music, is linked to reductions in depression and in pain and improved quality of life. The report also claims the arts help individuals to manage their own health more proactively, such as staying physically active and socially engaged.
