They also have around a dozen law school interns from the University of North Dakota who will assist during the session. New financial literacy tool for students across North Dakota Under the state's constitution, state lawmakers are allowed 80 days for the session, but John Bjornson with the legislative council says majority leaders try to wrap things up sooner. "They never want to take their full 80 days, they always like to save some days in case there's an emergency situation where they need to come back and address some issues," Bjornson said. "So, you know, the goal is maybe always 75 days. But the amount of work is pretty tremendous and there's no easing into it, you have to go hard right away." So far, Bjornson says over a thousand bills have already been filed, each one has to be read over and checked before it goes to committee. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
