Jan 03, 2025
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Rep. David Valadao was sworn into the 119th Congress Friday to represent California's 22nd Congressional District.
This will be Valadao's sixth term serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Valadao defeated former Bakersfield area Assemblymember and Democrat Rudy Salas back in November 2024. He also defeated Salas in November 2022.
“It is an honor to continue serving the good people of California’s 22nd District this Congress. Our communities deserve a strong voice representing them in Washington, D.C., and I remain committed to fighting to lower costs for families, strengthening our agricultural economy, supporting American energy independence, and delivering common-sense results for the Central Valley."

In December of 2024, Valadao was elected the chair of the Republican Governance Group, a House GOP caucus that trends to the center ideologically.
California's 22nd Congressional District includes portions of Kern, Kings and Tulare counties.
