(KRON) -- The leader of a Vallejo nonprofit was struck in a hit-and-run crash in December, a GoFundMe set up for the victim said.
Mel Jones, who is the commissioner of the Boys & Girls Empowerment Group, was hit by a car on the night of Dec. 20 at Sandpiper Court and Volcano Drive. His wheelchair was destroyed, and community members are raising money to buy him a replacement.
The Vallejo Police Department said there were no injuries in the crash, but the GoFundMe said Jones suffered a broken foot.

"Commissioner Jones has been a dedicated volunteer with the Boys and Girls Empowerment Group and a diligent member of the community food program, helping feed the community every Thursday and Saturday. His commitment to service has touched so many lives, and his efforts have made a lasting impact," the GoFundMe said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the crash, police confirmed.
The crash has creative "significant challenges" for Jones, per the GoFundMe. The money will go towards replacing the wheelchair and covering his medical expenses.
The Boys & Girls Empowerment Group is a community center that provides activities and resources for low-income families.
