What We’re Tracking Freezing drizzle then freezing rain/sleet Saturday Heavy snow likely on Sunday Cold wind chills following the storm A WINTER STORM WARNING is in place for the entire viewing area from Saturday afternoon into late Sunday night. Be prepared for winter weather and significant travel impacts. Our next winter storm moves in this weekend, heading straight for the area. We anticipate the storm to begin as light freezing rain Saturday into Saturday night before changing over to sleet then snow through the early hours on Sunday. A layer of ice up to ¼" of an inch, possibly up to ½" for southern areas, is possible before the changeover occurs. After that, heavy snow and strong wind could lead to whiteout conditions during the day on Sunday. Several inches of snow is expected especially for those north of I-70. Locally higher amounts are possible. Much colder air will move in at the start of next week, bringing single-digit lows with wind chills near 10 to 15 degrees below zero. That cold air lingers through much of next week. KSNT Storm Track Chief Meteorologist Matt Miller
