TOPEKA (KSNT) - The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus in Topeka experienced a hardware failure that forced part of the hospital to go on generator power. Ardent Health, the parent company for the St. Francis Campus, announced Jan. 2 the hospital went into diversion status and rescheduled some non-emergent elective procedures as a result of the hardware failure. Ardent Health spokeswoman Terri Benson said the hospital is continuing to accept walk-in patients for evaluations and stabilization. "Our team is working with outside partners to connect the impacted portion of the hospital to another primary electricity source, and we anticipate the solution to be in place today," Benson said. Kansas tax collections exceed estimates 27 News also contacted Stormont Vail Health which reported its hospital isn't on a diversion status and is continuing operations as usual. When St. Francis and Stormont Vail are both under a diversion at the same time, the community plan is to accept every other ambulance.
