Coexisting with bears topic of monthly Berkshire Green Drinks event

DALTON, Mass. (WWLP)-- It is estimated that there are over 4,000 black bears in Massachusetts, and coming into contact them is becoming more common.
Humans have been living along side them for thousands of years, but there still exists fear and misunderstanding about these native mammals.

On Wednesday, January 8, Nathan Buckhout, a wildlife biologist with Massachusetts Fish and Wildlife (MassWildlife), will speak at the January Berkshire Green Drinks event. He will discuss the natural history of Massachusetts black bears and their biology, his research on black bears in the state, and how to prevent conflicts and coexist with them.
This free hybrid event will take place online via Zoom and in person at The Stationery Factory, 63 Flansburg Avenue, in Dalton. The in-person social gathering will begin around 5:00 PM and the presentation and Zoom meeting will start at 6:00 PM.
