Shooting in Rice Hope development concerns neighbors

PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. (WSAV) — An investigation is underway after a shooting in a new neighborhood in Port Wentworth.
Neighbors in Rice Hope said this is not the first incident like this in their community, and they are starting to worry about their safety.
The shooting happened at a home in Clearwater Circle around 2 a.m. Thursday.
"I heard a wiz, and a pop go over the house," said Jack Spivey, who lives near the home. "I'm assuming it was over the house, but yeah it was really scary. Almost immediately I could tell it was gun shots."
His sentiments, however, were more frustration than fear.
"I was kind of frustrated more than anything because there's people here that just don't care. You know, they don't care about loss of human life, and it's just sad," said Spivey.
Spivey told News 3 this is not the first frightening incident to happen recently and that police have been called on several occasions for kids looking into cars at night.
"When does it stop?" he said. "You know, like, when is it going to stop? With kids looking into cars? Or is it going to stop with the shooting happening? Or is it going to stop with a kid being hit by a car?"
Port Wentworth Police declined an interview with News 3 but said the shooting was not a homicide and they are actively investigating.
