Mayor Nann Worel is unsure whether she will seek reelection in November and it will likely be months before she makes a decision about her political future.Worel in an interview on Thursday said she is focused on City Hall business, including issues like the development of Bonanza Park, the future of the Main Street core and the talks about the senior citizens center. She said she anticipates a decision about a campaign will likely be made in the spring. There are also two seats on the Park City Council on the ballot in November, now held by Tana Toly and Jeremy Rubell. Toly on Thursday indicated she will seek reelection to a second term. Rubell did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.“As a lifelong Park City native, I have a deep passion and unwavering commitment to this incredible community. I am dedicated, energized and excited to continue working on important projects and initiatives that make a difference. There is still much to be done, and if the community feels my contributions remain valuable, I would be honored to serve another four years,” Toly said in a statement. The mayor’s office will be the top prize on the City Hall ballot in November. Worel is in her first term after having served on the City Council and the Park City Planning Commission before the successful mayoral bid four years ago. Nobody has announced they will challenge for the mayor’s office. Toly and Rubell are also in their first terms. Toly, a Park City native, won the seat four years ago with a background on Main Street and service on the municipal Historic Preservation Board. Rubell was a newcomer to Park City politics when he won the seat in 2021 and brought a background in the energy and utility fields to the Marsac Building. There are no known City Council challengers yet.The election is expected to highlight traditional issues in Park City campaigns. The candidates will likely spend time outlining their proposals to address growth, traffic, transportation systems, housing and affordability. They will also likely cover the impacts of the resort industry on the community and the future of the Main Street core. The election in 2025 will be the first since the 2034 Winter Olympics were awarded in July to Salt Lake City, with the Park City area having a large role in the plan for the Games. It seems likely the candidate field will outline a vision for the community’s aspects of the Olympics. The four-year mayoral and City Council terms on the ballot this year stretch until early 2030, meaning the winners would be expected to have key parts during some of the crucial stages of talks about the Games.         The election does not formally start until early in the summer. A primary election would be held if more than two people seek the mayor’s office while more than four candidates would force a primary in the City Council contest. The post Park City mayor undecided about reelection bid; city councilor will seek another term  appeared first on Park Record.
