RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is hosting a hiring event for Richmond International Airport security officer positions next week.
This event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Richmond on 2900 block Emerywood Parkway.
The TSA is looking to hire for part- and full-time positions. The pay will start at $22.40 per hour as well as two years on the job, meaning that the officers could earn $64,000 per year.
According to the TSA, security officers ensure that airline travelers will get to their destination safely, by screening thousands of travelers daily.
“This event will provide an opportunity to accelerate the TSA officer hiring process. Attendees can learn about employment with TSA, receive guidance on completing the application and, if eligible, take a proctored test and interview.” TSA said in a press release on Friday, Jan. 3.
The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center will provide extensive training for new hires. Applicants are required to have two forms of state and federal-issued IDs -- also one with a signature and a photo.
The event process may take a few hours.
Experience is not required, although applicants must be a U.S. Citizen and be 18 years or older at the time of applying. A high school diploma or greater is needed and male applicants will also be required to register for selective service.
