Armed robbers strike at least 5 Walgreens across Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A violent string of armed robberies at Walgreens locations across Memphis leaves police searching for three suspects.
The robbers, caught on video, have made off with thousands of dollars. In each robbery, the suspects have been armed with guns, including an AR-style rifle.
The latest robbery occurred just hours ago at the Walgreens on Elvis Presley Boulevard. A gunman, armed with a black handgun, equipped with a laser, demanded money from the register and fled with over $700.
This is the fifth Walgreens robbery in just a few weeks, with the first occurring on Dec. 11 at the Union location, when two males entered with firearms.
The suspects pointed the guns at employees and stole hundreds of dollars from the register. Police say they fled in a white, older model Nissan sedan.

On Dec. 22, a man entered the Walgreens on Macon Road in Cordova, armed with two firearms, and robbed the business at gunpoint. The suspect pointed both guns and demanded money, leaving with about $400.
The suspects have been described as two men, one with an average build and the other thin, both wearing all black and masks. A third suspect is believed to be the getaway driver.
We watched the surveillance footage with King Jones, a regular at the Union Avenue Walgreens. He expressed concern about the trend of young people turning to crime and the trauma inflicted on employees who had guns pointed at them.
"It's becoming like a societal norm. People robbing and stealing at young ages and living a lifestyle like this," Jones said. "It's sad to see honestly. They're probably scared."
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
