Gov. Andy Beshear is inviting Eastern Kentucky flood survivors to apply for recovery housing support through an online portal that launched Friday.  Applicants can go to the website HousingCantWait.org to fill out an interest form with information about themselves and their needs. After the form is reviewed, a member of Fahe’s Disaster Resilience Team will reach out to the applicant and assist in finding options to meet housing needs. Fahe is a network of more than 50 Appalachian nonprofit organizations that provide resources in the region. Fahe aims to support flood survivors through available funding, including federal Community Development Block Grant dollars.  Beshear, Eastern Kentucky leaders and Fahe representatives announced the online portal in Hazard.  “We are committed to helping flood survivors find their New Kentucky Home, and now, through the launch of Fahe’s intake form, the process is much easier and more help is available,” Beshear said in a press release. “If you or someone you know was affected by the 2021 or 2022 floods, please visit this site and see if you are eligible for housing support. Together, we are making progress for our families in Eastern Kentucky.” The region faced devastating floods in recent years. The Beshear administration previously announced plans to rebuild affected communities on higher ground. Beshear toured one of the communities, Skyview, on Friday, which is a 50-acre site and will have nearly 100 new single-family homes for flood survivors.  The Housing Can’t Wait coalition, which includes nonprofit builders and Fahe, has completed 393 homes since the 2021 and 2022 floods.
