Keiki are invited to craft their best visual representation of Honolulu's "Sew a Lei for Memorial Day" effort, which places a fresh lei on approximately 38,000 graves within the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Pūowaina as part of the annual Mayor's Memorial Day Ceremony.
Young artists are invited to create a unique depiction of lei-making activities or ceremonial actions of the Memorial Day ceremony, such as lei-sewing, salutes or other patriotic symbols.
All students are encouraged to participate in this contest, and educators are encouraged to use this as an educational and creative opportunity while also showing appreciation for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
