MAUI, Hawaii (KHON2) -- A deceased humpback whale was found in Kihei the morning of Jan. 3, prompting a response from the DLNR Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement, DLNR Division of Aquatic Resources and NOAA's National Marine Fisheries Service.

Responders are working with the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary to tow the whale remains offshore for disposition, which was requested by Native Hawaiian cultural practitioners.
