Construction near Airway, Viscount to resume this month

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Beginning the week of Jan. 6, El Paso Water will resume construction on two projects near the intersection of Viscount and Airway Boulevard, a waterline rehabilitation and pipeline protection project, El Paso Water said in a press release.
The waterline project involves the replacement of a cast-iron main to address a consistent water leak near Airway and Viscount, the utility said.
"EP Water has tried several non-intrusive methods to resolve the leak, but replacement is the best option," the utility said.
The utility says directional drilling will be used to install a corrosion-resistant waterline with a life span of 50-100 years.
The project will also be resuming on the westbound lanes of Viscount and the utility will be replacing metal water mains citywide which cross major gas pipelines to minimize the likelihood of breaks.
The utility says business access will be maintained and drivers should follow detour signage and traffic control. The following roads will be impacted:
Two southbound lanes of Airway closed from Viscount to Gateway West
No access to International Drive from Airway
Viscount westbound reduced to one lane from Bellrose Drive to Airway
