(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff's Office (EPSO) announced that the body of 37-year-old Stephen Walker has been found, and an arrest warrant has been issued for an individual allegedly involved. EPSO said on Tuesday, Dec. 31, an arrest warrant was issued for 46-year-old Johnny Rankin Morris who was a suspect in the disappearance of Walker who went missing on Dec. 19, 2024. On Dec. 19, EPSO deputies were called to a home in the 1800 block of Pima Road in the Cimarron Hills area. A missing persons report was filed for Walker and Morris after detectives found a large pool of blood in the home where Walker and Morris lived. On Dec. 24, Park County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) deputies obtained a Welfare Check request for Timmy Huston of Hartsel. During the Welfare Check, a deputy found Walker's car one and a half miles from Huston's home. Deputies found Huston dead in his home later on Dec. 24. Law Enforcement sent an alert for Morris and 43-year-old Hailey Cole, who were believed to be traveling to Mississippi in Huston's truck. ARREST PHOTOS: Man, woman wanted in Colorado captured in Mississippi According to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Morris and Cole were arrested by the Pearl River County Sheriff's Office in Mississippi on Dec. 30. The arrest warrants for Morris and Cole list the following felony counts: First-Degree Murder - Intent/Deliberation Aggravated Robbery First-Degree Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft Tampering with Evidence of Felony Crime Conspiracy On Friday, Jan. 3, EPSO announced a body was found in a wooded area outside of El Paso County and was identified by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office as Walker. Morris is facing additional charges in El Paso County of First-Degree Murder, Tampering with a Deceased Human Body, and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Morris is awaiting extradition from Mississippi. “I speak for my entire Office when I say our heartfelt prayers are with Mr. Walker’s family and friends as they navigate this tragic situation,” said Sheriff Joseph Roybal. “Although there is no way to ease their broken hearts, we hope to ease their burden by holding the individual who senselessly took Stephen’s life accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
