Semitruck driver treated for smoke inhalation after fire slows traffic along I5 north of Pyramid Lake

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A fire to a semi-truck and trailer slowed traffic in southbound lanes of Interstate 5 near Pyramid Lake on Friday for hours, officials said.
The fire to the semi-truck was reported just before 5 a.m. in southbound lanes of I-5 just north of Highway 138, according to the California Highway Patrol's Traffic Incident Information Page.

The fire was reported to be coming from the truck's brakes and eventually spread, fully engulfing the truck's cab and trailer. Crews called for several lanes to be blocked to put out the flames.
CHP Fort Tejon Officer DC Williams said the driver of the semi-truck was hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
The #4 lane remained closed just north of Highway 138 for emergency crews for much of the day. All lane closures were lifted by around 3 p.m., according to CHP.
