BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- Getting book titles not on the shelf at the Kern County Library just got a whole lot easier with a newly implemented program. The Kern County Library has brought back "Zip Books", which allows Kern County residents who hold a valid library card to make requests for titles not currently in the library's collection. After the titles are cleared by library staff, the materials are then mailed directly to resident's homes from Amazon for free! After you're finished with your read, return everything to the library to be catalogued and added to the collection. Titles not supported in this program include eBooks, audiovisual items, textbooks, or study guides through this service.   This program is supported by state library funding until June 30, 2025.
