SHEFFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Massachusetts State Lottery announced the luckiest stores that sold multiple prizes of $1 million or more in 2024. In Sheffield, three $1 million winning lottery tickets were sold out of Silk's Variety, a family-owned business on Main Street. “With over 50 years as a Lottery agent, we could never have imagined selling three $1 million prize-winning tickets in one year,” said store owner Susan Silk. “We are so excited for the winners and are grateful for our loyal customers who have supported us for so many years. We truly are a lucky store.” Berkshire County man wins $1 million on scratch ticket The first winning ticket at Silk's Variety in 2024 was on January 26th when a Sheffield resident won a $1 million prize in the $5,000,000 100X Cashword instant ticket game. Another $1 million prize was awarded to Richard Swiater of Great Barrington in the lottery’s “$4,000,000 Monopoly Doubler”  $10 instant ticket game. We often hear that large prizes are only won in bigger cities, but this combined with multiple winners in East Longmeadow and Nantucket illustrates that it isn’t the case.” Silk's Variety in Sheffield Biggest lottery winners in 2024 for Massachusetts In East Longmeadow, the Pride Station on North Main Street sold two $1 million tickets. A Springfield man claimed his $1 million winning scratch ticket in January. Kenneth Bernard played the lottery’s “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” instant ticket game and chose the cash option of $650,000. He plans to use some of the winnings to buy a new car. In March, a trust claimed the $1 million prize in the Lottery’s “$5,000,000 100X Cashword” instant ticket game. In Massachusetts, when a large lottery prize is won, it is required to be identified to the public when you claim the winnings.
