Fouryearold boy ‘possibly’ shoots self in Richmond’s East End on New Year’s Eve

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A 4-year-old boy is injured after police say he "possibly" shot himself in Richmond's East End in the early hours of New Year's Eve.
At 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded to the 1900 block of Maddox Street near the Whitcomb area of Richmond's East End.
When officers arrived, they found a 4-year-old boy with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injury.
Detectives are not looking for suspects in this shooting, according to police. A police spokesperson later told 8News that detectives believe the boy "possibly" shot himself.
