PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Rhode Island’s senate and house of representatives are returning to the State House today for the 2025 legislative session. Senate President Dominic Ruggerio has chosen former North Providence police chief David Tikoian to be majority whip. Senator Tikoian was the chief in North Providence from 2017 to 2020. He was elected to the senate in 2022 after a stint on the Smithfield Town Council. He replaces Senator Valarie Lawson who moved up to majority leader. Categories: News, Providence, Rhode Island
