BOSTON (WPRI) — Officials continue to investigate the terrorist attack in New Orleans that killed 14 people on New Year's Eve. Meanwhile, Boston Marathon bombing survivor Marc Fucarile is focused on helping those who have been affected. "If there's anything I could say to those affected by this tragedy down there, try to find the light that's there," he said. "Try to find the positive support. Reach for support. Ask for help. You're going to need it. And come together as a community." BACKGROUND: Driver responsible for deadly New Orleans rampage acted alone Fucarile knows firsthand the trauma affiliated with an act of terror. He was waiting for a friend to finish the marathon in 2013 while standing next to the second bomb. The blast blew off his right leg and burst his eardrums. He knows what the first hours are like for the survivors. "Scary, to say the least," Fucarile recalled. "You feel alone, scared, you don't know what is going to happen, you don't know if you're going live, or if you're going to die." He recently launched a social media app called the "MARC network" which stands for the mobility awareness resource community. It has a roadmap to recovery and other useful resources. In times like these, Fucarile says to focus on the light instead of the darkness. URI student hours before New Orleans attack: ‘Something just didn’t feel right’ Close Thanks for signing up!
