Missing woman found dead after disappearing on New Year's Day in KC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Police are investigating after a missing woman was found shot and killed Thursday afternoon, just one day after disappearing on New Year's Day in Kansas City.
According to the Kansas City Police Department, at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 48-year-old Brandi Crout disappeared from the area of 45th Terrace and Willow Avenue in her black 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe with Missouri license plate "EH7-V9E."

One day later, on Thursday afternoon, KCPD reported finding a woman who had been shot and killed inside a car near East 35th Terrace and Stadium Drive. The remains of the woman were eventually identified as Crout Friday morning.
Although the case is a confirmed shooting, KCPD has not determined the circumstances that led up to Crout's death. At this time, this is an active crime scene and an ongoing investigation.
