(PINPOINT WEATHER) — The second day of January ended up being a little colder — get used to it! There are no big warmups on the way any time soon.  We'll get a little boost back into the 50s Friday before the next cold front clears the area, but then it's back to unseasonably cold conditions for the weekend into next week.  Wintry mix possible near Virginia border on Monday in North Carolina Friday's front will pass through mostly dry, but a few sprinkles can't be ruled out, and the mountains will get some more light snow. Totals will be low for the most part, but up to three inches may accumulate in the highest elevations.  Saturday is sunny, but cold and blustery. The mountains will experience dangerously cold wind chills, as low as 10 to 15 degrees below zero! It's a day to limit time outside, and bundle up as much as possible if going out!  The next system rolls in Sunday night through Monday, this time bringing more mainly wet weather to the area. It's looking like mostly rain showers late Sunday through Monday for the Charlotte region, but we can't rule out a little icy mix north and west of Charlotte, near the I-40 corridor. The mountains will get more snow developing Monday into Tuesday. Stay tuned for updates!  Tonight: Few more clouds moving in. Low 29.  Friday: Partly cloudy and breezy. Small shower chance. High 53.
