ARLINGTON, Wis. (WFRV) - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Division of Motor Vehicles has revoked the wholesale dealer licenses of 11 businesses, all operating from the same address. According to WisDOT, the licenses for Fancy Auto Sales Inc. and GB Auto Sales Inc., based at 101 Skyline Drive #1 in Arlington, were revoked for rolling back odometers, falsifying title documents, and selling directly to consumers—violations of their wholesale dealer licenses. Nine wholesale dealers in Wisconsin get licenses revoked for violating state law In recent years, WisDOT has reported a significant increase in wholesale dealer licenses and consumer complaints, prompting investigations. Wisconsin is one of a few states that offers wholesale dealer licenses, allowing businesses to sell vehicles only from dealer to dealer. Wholesalers are prohibited from selling vehicles directly to the public. The department revoked the licenses on Oct. 18, 2024, citing the severity of the violations. A hearing on Nov. 15 upheld the decision. Dealers were given 30 days to appeal, but neither Fancy Auto Sales nor GB Auto Sales filed an appeal, making the revocation final. Additionally, the following eight wholesale dealers lost their licenses for failing to maintain a required security bond: Mercedez Chicago Inc. Abdul Aziz Motors LLC Three Brothers Auto Sale LLC Deepway Auto Sales LLC Divinity Motors LLC Xclusive Auto Xchange Inc. AMG1 Autos LLC Veritas Auto LLC Wisconsin law requires wholesale dealers to carry a security bond as a consumer protection measure. Bonds ensure that consumers can file claims for losses caused by illegal actions, such as odometer tampering or fraudulent sales. WisDOT’s Dealer and Agent Section oversees licensing, regulates dealerships, and investigates complaints, including odometer fraud and title tampering involving dealerships and private sellers.
