FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — Interested in learning a new sport in the new year? The Fort Wayne Curling Club has got your back. The club offers a series of "Learn to Curls" which aim to give community members a trial run on the ice. President and Co-Founder Craig Fischer said curling emphasizes balance and strategy. The club also hosts a variety of inclusive equipment. Fischer said delivery sticks are offered for people who find it hard to kneel as well as a gliding ramp to help with balance. "It's a great equalizer," Fischer said. "Curling is often a sport that people who aren't good at [other] sports excel at." House fire in Huntington County claims the lives of 8 animals Fischer said each lesson is 30-45 minutes of instruction with the remaining 60-90 minutes of play time. Members will act as coaches and offer guidance throughout the event. The club's Learn to Curls are scheduled at different times throughout each month. Beginner lessons will also run in January on the 18th and 25th. Lessons go from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Fort Wayne Curling Club's headquarters on 3837 N. Wells St. No experience is necessary and all equipment will be provided. Admission is $20. To sign up for Learn to Curls and view the full list of events, visit the club's website.
