(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has issued arrest warrants after the discovery of drugs and a gun inside a vehicle that was impounded and later searched by officers late Thursday night, Jan. 2.
According to police, on Thursday just before 11:30 p.m., officers pulled over a Ford SUV with fake license plates near North Carefree Circle and South Hammock Drive, just east of the intersection with North Academy Boulevard.
Upon pulling the SUV over, CSPD said the driver was issued citations for multiple traffic violations before she was ultimately released.
Police said that because the SUV was uninsured and unregistered, and there was no licensed driver associated with it, an on-scene supervisor decided to impound the vehicle.
During a search of the SUV, officers found one-half pound of methamphetamine, along with other narcotics and a gun inside.
Police said arrest warrants have been issued for the suspects previously stopped in the SUV, who according to CSPD, left the scene in other cars that are not related to the investigation.
