OLATHE, Kan. (WDAF) -- It's not uncommon for a phone or wallet to be left behind in a ride-share service, but one man getting out of an Uber in Kansas City, Kansas, found an urn. “Glad we were able to find it,” Ty Hayden said. “I hopped out of the Uber, just to make sure we didn't leave anything, so we wouldn't have to have the Uber come back, I flipped on the flashlight and found a couple of items,” Hayden said. “I asked the Uber (driver), I was like, ‘Hey, just making sure this isn't yours before I take it,’ He said, ‘Nope, you're good.'” The Uber driver didn't know how long the urn had been in the car. The driver also told Hayden he's been traveling all across the Kansas City metro. Hayden assumed the urn belonged to his friends. Later, he learned someone had lost the ashes in a ride sometime before their trip. “I messaged my friends to make sure it wasn't theirs or their parents because it’s a pretty big item and sentimental to somebody,” Hayden said. Hayde is from Olathe and is currently in the military, stationed in Florida, so he left the urn safely with his mother Erin Hayden. “It would be a relief to find its owner,” his mom said. In an effort to find the rightful owner, Erin Hayden took to Facebook. “Some people said there's a serial number identification,” she said. “There's nothing on the bottom, nothing on the inside of the lid. So, there's nothing to identify it.” The post has been shared nearly 200 times with no luck yet. “It's well loved. So someone's been carrying it around,” Erin Hayden said. “If it was my parent or my child or whoever it would be, I would want it back home.” They hope to find the urn's rightful home. Until then, “I guess it's a family member for right now,” Erin Hayden said. “It'll probably go on the shelf and be here with us until somebody claims it,” she said. If this urn looks familiar, reach out to the family on Facebook.
