AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Our late week warming trend continues with temperatures soaring well above average for the start of the weekend. Fog and a few pockets of mist/drizzle are plaguing parts of Central Texas this morning. Visibility is down in many areas in the Hill Country and Austin-metro. Clouds will be dominant in our skies through the day but afternoon highs will still warm comfortably into the 60s. This weekend Tomorrow will look similar to today with morning fog and mainly cloudy skies. A low chance of rain exists but most of us are expected to stay dry. Weekend forecast We'll keep the warming going this weekend with low 70s on Saturday and Sunday. Sunday's warming will be cut short thanks to a strong cold front expected during the afternoon. The exact timing of the arrival of the front where you live will make a big difference in the high temperatures you see. A slightly delay in the front would push you higher into the 70s, whereas an earlier arrival will keep you in the 60s for highs. I expect the northern Hill Country won't warm out of the 60s on Sunday, but most of the Austin Metro and our eastern counties should. A tiny rain chance will accompany the front, mainly for our eastern counties. Much colder next week That Sunday cold front helps to usher in the coldest air since last winter into Central Texas. Widespread freezes are expected for multiple mornings next week and wintry precipitation is *possible* as well. Read more about that in our updated weather blog linked below.
