Man dies after collision with Columbus police cruisers

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – One person has died after a vehicle crashed into multiple police cruisers in west Columbus early Friday morning.
According to Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua, one person was hospitalized after a brief police pursuit when a man suffered a life-threatening medical event.

Officers received reports just before 5 a.m. of a man passed out behind the wheel of a car in the 2900 block of Sullivant Avenue. When police arrived the driver drove off before he was boxed in by several CPD cruisers in front of Hilltonia Middle School, on West Mound Street in the South Central Hilltop area.
Multiple cruisers were damaged at the scene and police said that's where the driver experienced a "medical event" during the interaction. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead at 5:57 a.m.
Two officers were reportedly injured during the incident. One is in stable condition at an area hospital, the other was treated at the scene.
