ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - Lake effect snow continues to fall for areas east of Lake Ontario, but it has not quite met Rochester. It will take a shift in winds over the next 24 hours to kick snow south into Monroe County. Snow will persist throughout the weekend for many. Make sure to take it easy on roads when traveling through lake-effect snow bands. Quickly deteriorating conditions with snowfall rates that go up to 1-2 inches per hour will be expected through Saturday night. The snow will fade Sunday afternoon as winds veer east. Another round of snow moves through Pennsylvania Monday, but we dodge that system. It's the next round of colder air Tuesday and Wednesday that could bring some more snow. In fact, if this setup by the middle of next week holds, we could be in line for some more significant snow through the end of next week.
