Good Friday morning and we are waking up to snowy/wet conditions across central Indiana. Most of Indianapolis and south saw all rain while areas north of Indianapolis saw a light dusting of snow. The snow/rain has pushed out of the area and we will be dry the rest of the day. Temps are expected to top out in the mid-20s under partly sunny skies. This weekend will feature a mix of everything from dry weather on Saturday and some peeks of sun to heavy snow on Sunday. Winter Storm arrives on Sunday: A winter storm watch has been issued for much of central Indiana until Monday evening. The actual storm is just off the west coast of the U.S and has yet to make landfall. There is still uncertainty with this system on how much snow we will see but confidence is high that we will see several inches. Timing: This could shift but snow is likely to start falling around noon on Sunday. It is likely to increase in intensity from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. During this window, we will see the most snowfall with rates reaching 1-2" per hour. The snow will be heavy wet snow, leading to slick roads Sunday night into Monday morning. Amounts: Areas north of the I-70 corridor see all snow and could range from 3-6 inches. Indianapolis and areas to the south will likely see more snow with freezing rain possibly mixed in. This is where the heaviest snow bands will set up leading to higher snowfall amounts. Some localized areas could see double-digit snow totals. Note: This is our first call and this map is likely to be adjusted but this is just our thinking Friday morning.
