INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating after a man was shot and killed early Friday morning on the near north side.
According to IMPD, just before 4:15 a.m. officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 2900 block of North Capitol Avenue.
Officers arrived to find a man with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
IMPD confirmed that officers had detained a person of interest.
Southbound of North Capitol Avenue at 30th Street to 28th Street will be shut down while police conduct their investigation.
