Blue Alert: ISP searching for suspect in shooting of Orange County deputy

WEST BADEN, Ind. -- Indiana State Police (ISP) issued a Blue Alert early Friday morning for a man wanted for allegedly shooting an Orange County deputy in southern Indiana.
ISP is searching for 33-year-old Austin Schepers. He is described as a 5'7", 150 pound white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He has a tattoo of a cross under his left eye, along with multiple tattoos around his neck.

He was last seen on Friday, Jan. 3, at 12:58 a.m. driving a silver 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with Indiana license plate CRT921. An unidentified individual was also in the vehicle.
Police said Schepers shot a deputy during a traffic stop in West Baden at the intersection of US 150 and Indiana State Road 56.

Blue Alerts are statewide notifications sent under certain criteria established by the Indiana Clearinghouse for Information on Missing Children and Missing Endangered Adults:
Law enforcement officer missing, seriously injured, or killed in the line of duty
Suspect has not been apprehended, location unknown, and poses imminent danger
There must be enough descriptive information to believe the broadcast will help
Request must be recommended by the law enforcement agency of jurisdiction
