Widespread light snow before frigid Friday
Jan 02, 2025
After we saw sunshine and quiet weather during the daytime hours on Thursday, a weather system is bringing periods of snow to the area through the overnight hours. While this is not a big snow-maker, the quick inch of snowfall from this system is causing slick roadways. Take it slow and be careful if you need to go out.

Snow will exit by as late as 4 AM tonight. This is good news for your Friday morning drive, as the snow from this weather system will be long gone. Temperatures will drop down into the low-to-mid 20s by daybreak Friday.

Behind this system, we're tracking occasional lake effect snow showers, as a result of gusty northwest winds blowing over Lake Michigan. We'll see gusts up to 30 mph at times, creating an added chill in the air. Make sure you bundle up, as high temperatures will be in the mid-20s and wind chill values will only reach as high as the teens. Little snow accumulation is expected from the lake effect snow shower activity, but do watch out for reduced visibilities at times.

We then turn our attention to a powerful weather system taking shape for the Sunday into Monday window. Measurable snowfall remains on the table locally, but it appears the biggest impacts will stay to the south of our area. Central and southern Indiana appear likely to get the most snow and ice, but stay tuned for updates as we fine-tune the track of this system and potential local snowfall amounts.
Widespread snow/ice is expected south of here. Local snow totals will be lighter Sunday/Monday.
