From nearrecord warmth to snow, extreme cold Your 9Day Forecast
Jan 02, 2025
The high today was 69! That's a full 12 degrees above normal, and we're about to get warmer tomorrow. The record is 73 set in 1971. If you like it warm, enjoy the next few days because that changes in an extreme way next week. Your extremely cold forecast is below.
Let's also take a brief walk down memory lane from 2024. Here are two graphics to summarize the year: the Misery Meter and Rainfall for 2024 for both El Paso and Las Cruces. We had 55 triple-digit days, 22 record heat days, and a major rainfall deficit, especially in Las Cruces. 2024 was El Paso's 12th driest year on record and Las Cruces's 3rd driest year ever.
TONIGHT: The skies will be mostly clear. The winds will be light and variable at calm to 10 mph. The low will drop to 35 at the airport.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and cooler with a high of 65. The NW winds will range from 5-15 mph. Monday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a high of 60. Tuesday will be cloudy and cold but dry with a high of 53. On Wednesday, starting early in the morning, cold air will push in with enough moisture to produce snow. We are likely to see accumulations on Wednesday in the range of 2-6 inches. (I'll keep this updated as the data changes.) Wednesday's high: 35. The low will drop to 17 for Thursday morning. Thursday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a few light, lingering flurries possible. Thursday's high: 38.
