AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A fight between two groups led to a shot being fired inside Lakeline Mall at the food court Thursday afternoon, Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said during a media briefing.
As of Thursday at 5:30 p.m., Davis said no arrests have been made in the incident. The APD chief said officers remained inside the mall investigating, and all exits were open to evacuate people from the mall.
"Officers responded not knowing who else was inside the mall. The mall itself went into its own lockdown procedures," Davis said. "No one was shot or harmed."
APD first responded to the incident as a shoot/stab hot shot call, and around 4:20 p.m., police said the incident was an "isolated incident."
A hot shot call is defined as an incident that involves physical harm or injury to a person or property or is an incident that is still in progress when all involved parties are still on the scene, according to the city of Austin.
Davis said four people were involved in the fight. Witnesses saw those people run away from the mall. No suspects were found in the immediate aftermath of the fight, according to APD.
APD said evacuated shoppers can be picked up at Savers, located at 11101 Pecan Park Boulevard.
According to police, the mall is expected to remain closed for the duration of the night while the investigation continues.
APD also requested the community's assistance in gathering more information regarding the incident. Any videos, photos or details surrounding the incident can be submitted here.
