Judge Andrew Christenson has ordered a pre-sentencing investigation, and Ayer's sentencing is scheduled for February 14. He faces a maximum possible sentence of over 27 years in prison.
“We continue to see the dangers of marijuana on our roadways when someone drives high,” Toney stated. “This defendant caused carnage inside a Verizon store while under the influence of marijuana, injuring customers and endangering others. Thankfully, no one was killed, but the emotional impact remains high for those inside the store and their families.”

The incident occurred on April 27, 2023, when Ayer was driving northbound on North Rolling Meadows Drive, just north of the Walmart parking lot. Several customers were injured in the crash. Ayer was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and was later arrested.
