(CNN)– 2024 was a bad year for major U.S. retailers. According to Coresight Research, more than 73 hundred stores closed. That’s an increase of 57% from the year before. It’s also the highest annual number of stores closed since 2020, when the pandemic led to mass disruption of businesses across the country. Some of the closures included 718 Family Dollar stores, more than a thousand Walgreens, and CVS Pharmacies, and nearly 600 Big Lots. Categories: News Tags: U.S. economy
